$12.5 Million Renovation to Bellevue’s Convention Center

BELLEVUE, Wash. – Natural wood, warm color palettes and artistic lighting create a welcoming atmosphere in the newly renovated Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. Originally built in 1993 as the second largest convention facility in the Greater Seattle area, the Meydenbauer Center has recently completed a $12.5 million renovation with new spaces, technology upgrades and design alterations.

“Since Meydenbauer opened 23 years ago, Bellevue has developed into a vibrant urban city that is home to several major corporations and ambitious start-ups,” said Stacy Graven, executive director of the center. “Meydenbauer Center’s recent renovation elevates the convention center’s interior and provides a new level of finishes and technology that is consistent with our hotel partners.”

Substantial transformations occurred within the Center Hall Lobby, 410-seat theater, fourth floor meeting rooms and the facility’s exterior. Other renovation highlights include updated lobby seating, audiovisual systems, lighting and digital signage.

The renovations come partially in response to an increase in visitors in recent years, since 4.8 percent more visitors came to the Washington city in 2014 than in the previous year. Six nearby hotels are currently under development to additionally accommodate this growth.
