800-Room Convention Center Hotel Coming to Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – City officials recently announced plans to construct a sizeable convention center hotel in downtown Kansas City. The proposed 800-room Hyatt Hotel would sit next to the Kansas City Convention Center.

Planners estimate the project will cost $300 million. The hotel operators will exclusively handle catering at all convention center events, something that is currently divided among several catering companies.

Officials hope the 30-story building will attract more convention business by providing more downtown hotel rooms. Estimates set the opening date in 2018.
