Cvent Ranks Smaller Cities Among Top Meeting Destinations

Meeting planners continue to pay attention to smaller U.S. cities when choosing event locations, according to a recent ranking of the 50 most popular American cities for events and meetings by Cvent.

Naturally, giants like Orlando, Las Vegas and Chicago stayed at the top of the list, but further down the list featured many smaller-tiered cities such as Grapevine, Texas; Kissimmee, Florida; and National Harbor, Maryland. In 2015, Charleston, South Carolina debuted on the list (50th), while Jacksonville, Florida (47th) and Tucson, Arizona (48th) appeared for the second time.

“The entire meeting experience will be cheaper for the attendee, but also people are looking for different experiences,” said Reggie Aggarwal, CEO of Cvent. “That’s why we’re seeing a rise of regional alternatives.”
