Hofbrauhaus St. Louis-Belleville, a Hyatt Place Hotel to open in Belleville, Illinois

BELLEVILLE, Illinois — Construction will begin in the spring 2017 on a $28 million Hyatt Place hotel and conference center in Belleville, Missouri.

The six-story Hyatt Place will be the city’s first new hotel in 55 years and will be next to the new Hofbräuhaus beer hall and brewery. Oak Tree Management Services will operate the 130-room hotel, its restaurant and its 40,000-square-foot conference center. The conference center will have a ballroom able to hold 1,500 people.

“The combination of these facilities will draw business and leisure travelers from throughout the Midwest,” said Chane Keller, vice president of Oak Tree Management.

The new hotel will be located on Illinois Route 15 across from the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. The 70-room hotel at the shrine will remain open under shrine management until the Hyatt Place opens, about 18 months after construction begins. Developers said the current hotel would then close and be redone for a yet-to-be determined purpose.

Construction of the $12 million, 1,000-seat Hofbräuhaus restaurant and brewery, initially scheduled to open this year, will not be done until January, officials said. Installation and testing of brewing equipment imported from Germany will happen in January and February. An opening date will be set when satisfactory beer production is established, officials said.

The project, called Hofbräuhaus St. Louis-Belleville, is a franchise of Las Vegas-based Hofbräu America, which is majority owned by Hofbräuhaus in Munich. Keller said in a statement the Hyatt Place and the Hofbräuhaus restaurant were “significant milestones for Belleville.”
