Jacksonville awaits SMM Conference

They will also have ample time to see other meeting and event venues in the city, such as the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center, the only Southern railroad station in the nation to be converted to a convention center; the historic Florida Theatre, where Elvis performed in 1957; the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts and its three performance halls; and the Jacksonville Zoo, where the Range of the Jaguar exhibit and event space can transport guests to a wild kingdom of jaguars, howler monkeys and giant anteaters.

Of course, other draws are the nearby beaches, a 30-minute drive from downtown, and the agreeable weather that typifies Florida in the fall.

“Summer’s heat has passed, and in its place are mild, comfortable temperatures,” said Cappuzzello. “Even in late October, when we’ll be there, there’s little chance of a chill, with daytime temperatures averaging in the high 70s to low 80s and lows typically in the 60s.”

The features that have made the SMM Conference a hit return in Jacksonville: two sessions of pre-scheduled Marketplace appointments between meeting planners and suppliers; three education sessions; tours of the city and ample time for networking during receptions and dinners that include all in attendance.
