What’s new: A local developer is planning a 20-story downtown building that might include a hotel. The Holiday Inn Fargo is doing a near-total renovation of guest rooms. Several limited-service hotels will open in the next year. The Fargo Air Museum is raising money for an expansion. A bike-share program is coming to downtown this fall.

Kudos: Forbes called downtown Fargo one of the nation’s top 10 most-transformed neighborhoods.

Rooms: There are 4,200 guest rooms, including nine convention hotels.

Location: Fargo, N.D., and Moorhead, Minn., operate as one metropolitan area and are 3.5 hours northwest of Minneapolis; three hours east of Bismarck, N.D.; and 3.5 hours north of Sioux Falls, S.D.

Getting there: The cities are at the intersection of interstates 29 and 94. Hector International Airport has 20 flights daily to Chicago, Denver, Minneapolis and Salt Lake City.
