Restoration Plans Underway at Historic Plantation Resort on Crystal River

CRYSTAL RIVER, Florida — A well-known landmark on Florida’s Nature Coast is preparing for a fresh start under new ownership. The historic Plantation Resort on Crystal River, long cherished for its old Florida charm and natural beauty, has been acquired by Plantation Fusion, with restoration plans already underway following damage from last year’s hurricane season.

The 232-acre waterfront resort is currently closed but is expected to reopen in phases starting as early as this fall. A limited reopening will focus on restored core amenities, with additional upgrades and franchise affiliation details to be announced soon.

Initial improvements will include:

  • Restoration of the 96,000-gallon outdoor pool overlooking King’s Bay

  • Renovation of the main reception area to welcome arriving guests

  • Reopening of the West 82° restaurant in a limited format, beginning with breakfast service

  • Phased reopening of the waterfront Tiki Bar

  • Refreshed guest rooms in the Rose Building, which remained undamaged during the storm

  • Restoration and reopening of the fitness center

“We’re honored to bring new life to this historic property while preserving the spirit that generations of visitors have cherished,” said Michael Mancke, project manager for the restoration and general manager of nearby Paddletail Waterfront Lodge. “As always, our vision is rooted in stewardship, community connection and thoughtful renewal.”

The resort will be operated by SR Hotel Management, a privately held third-party management company, which currently operates four other properties in the area. SRHM provides comprehensive hotel operations and repositioning services, helping ensure the revitalized resort exceeds expectations for both guests and ownership.

Located along the spring-fed waters of King’s Bay, Plantation Resort on Crystal River has been a go-to destination for nature lovers, boaters, golfers and manatee enthusiasts for decades. The new ownership group, with local roots and hospitality experience, is committed to honoring the resort’s history while elevating the guest experience with modern enhancements.

More details on the resort’s future branding and full reopening timeline will be shared in the weeks ahead. For ongoing updates, visit plantationoncrystalriver.com.
