Austin adds direct flights to D.C.
AUSTIN, Texas — Austin was one of four cities recently chosen to offer daily nonstop flights to Ronald Reagan Washington National.
Airline access to Reagan National is tightly controlled because the airport is small and close to major government agencies including the Pentagon. Southwest Airlines will begin offering the route from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to Reagan National sometime this summer.
Nonstop service to Portland and Atlanta (Southwest), to New York (Delta), and to Philadelphia (US Airways) has also been added or will be added soon. Austin’s airport has 40 daily nonstop flights.
