What’s new: A clubhouse opened in July at Virginia Tech’s Pete Dye River Course, a partner of the hotel. The clubhouse has meeting space for groups of up to 200; event rooms open to a 4,000-square-foot elevated patio that looks out on the New River.

Guest rooms: 147, including three suites.

Meeting space: The 23,705 square feet of flexible meeting space includes an 8,832-square-foot ballroom with 22-foot ceilings and 2,193 square feet of prefunction space. The conference center also has 10 dedicated conference rooms.

Amenities: Preston’s serves breakfast and lunch buffets as well as a la carte meals at lunch and dinner. It is known for its Sunday brunch. The inn also has a gift shop, a 24-hour business center, room service, and dry/cleaning and laundry service. The property is on the campus shuttle route; parking is available to hotel guests for $3 a day.

Location: The inn is on the edge of the Virginia Tech campus, about 25 miles southwest of Roanoke in southwest Virginia. It is 217 miles from Washington; 141 miles from Charlotte, N.C.; and 101 miles from Charleston, W.Va.

Getting there: The inn is 42 miles from the Roanoke Regional Airport and about 5 miles off Interstate 81.
