21C Cool

Catering

Art touches practically every aspect of the 21c Museum Hotel in Bentonville, including the catering kitchen, where seasonal dining has become its own art form. Chef Matthew McClure (a James Beard semifinalist and titled Best Chef South two years running) and his culinary team at The Hive work closely with regional farmers and producers to create a variety of customizable menus to please a range of palates. Signature items include carving stations of sorghum-brined pork loin, house-made pickles with fried hominy, fresh cotton candy (served tableside) and apple cobbler with vanilla bourbon ice cream. The bar packages feature a variety of craft beers and a pretty overwhelming collection of Kentucky Bourbons and selected wines.

On Display

The contemporary art featured at the hotel ranges from permanent works integrated into the architecture of the building to rotating exhibitions of contemporary art throughout the galleries. 21c offers a variety of cultural programming for guests and locals to enjoy. Aside from the regular weekly and monthly offerings, like free docent tours, free yoga with art classes, and a jamming 21cafe series, the events team can customize any experience by facilitating a private art class, an art tour or a scavenger-hunt-style gallery tour of the current exhibition. The team creates imaginative, memorable experiences, with a few favorites, including cooking and craft cocktail classes and even a tango class, in the gallery.

Extras

This hotel not only offers the chance to sleep within the grounds of a contemporary art museum, it is also within walking distance to some of the most popular Bentonville attractions. The hotel provides a loaner bike service for guests to access the area’s 20-plus miles of cycling paths, making it easy to make the mile-and-a-half trek from the hotel to the Crystal Bridges Museum along the Crystal Bridges Art Trail. Locals and visitors can stroll the art-filled halls of the hotel and then head outdoors to explore the native Arkansas landscaping and the sculptural installations outside the hotel’s front door.
