What’s new: A new convention center hotel is expected to be announced in early November. The Ford Center arena opened a year ago, across from the city’s convention center downtown. Evansville celebrated its bicentennial this year.
Rooms: About 4,000, including 400 at two suburban convention hotels and about 350 at Casino Aztar’s two hotels downtown.
Location: Evansville is in southwest Indiana, near the southeast border of Illinois. The Ohio River separates part of the city from Kentucky. Evansville is 119 miles from Louisville, Ky.; 151 miles from Nashville, Tenn.; 165 miles from St. Louis; 182 miles from Indianapolis; and 308 miles from Chicago.
Getting there: Evansville Regional Airport has flights to Chicago and Dallas aboard American Eagle and to Atlanta and Detroit on Delta Connection. Interstate 64 connects Evansville to the east and west, and U.S. Hwy. 41 provides links north and south.
