‘Satellite’ Campus
Two hotels right next to each other about a mile from the convention center create a sort of “satellite” campus with nearly 45,000 square feet of function space. The renovated 376-room Wyndham Anaheim Garden Grove hotel reopened last summer and has 36,000 square feet of function space in 17 newly renovated rooms. The 7,725-square-foot Catalina Ballroom can be split into seven meeting rooms, and the 10,080-square-foot Santa Rosa Ballroom can be halved. The 371-room Anaheim Marriott Suites has nearly 10,000 square feet of event space in 12 meeting rooms. The largest is the 7,100-square-foot Crystal Ballroom, which can be broken into eight meeting rooms.
Unexpected Fun
No one hears “Southern California” and thinks “cowboy,” which is why event planners love to take their groups to The Ranch. Everything about The Ranch is unexpected. In addition to serving up a huge dose of country-western in the sunny SoCal city, the restaurant, saloon and dance hall are also located in an office-style building, which initially confuses people. Planners often start off with a private dinner upstairs, then go downstairs to the dance-floor-centered saloon. There, instructors teach groups how to square dance and line dance, activities that can also serve as team building.
