Roosevelt’s love of the outdoors and passion for conservation of land thrived during the time he spent in the North Dakota Badlands.

Medora is filled with an array of outdoor adventures. With over 150+ miles of the Maah Daah Hey trail, there is so much to see in every turn. You can bring your own mountain bike or rent one and take to the trail that was named the “Best Trail’ by Midwest Living Magazine. In addition to the park and trail you can enjoy other outdoor activities, such as Medora Musical, a unique outdoor show that’s an ode to patriotism, Theodore Roosevelt and the spirit of the badlands! You won’t want to miss Pitchfork Fondue ( perfect for groups), Bully Pulpit golf course, horse trail rides, Chimney Park and carriage rides through town!
The Musical and outside attractions aren’t the only entertainment in town. Medora is home to all kinds of entertainment, museums and attractions. The Gospel Brunch will get your day started off right. After brunch, walk the streets of the historic town that was named one of the top ten towns in America where history lives. You’ll see the history of Medora maintained in the integrity of all of the buildings. Medora is filled with unique shops and eateries. While walking around, you might meet Theodore Roosevelt himself or want to catch his live show. In addition to the Gospel Brunch and Teddy Roosevelt Show, Medora offers variety shows at the Old Town Hall and live music and comedians at local restaurants in town.

Medora has a very colorful and storied past – from the Marquis de Mores’ dream of a cattle empire and naming the town for his wife (Be sure to visit his Chateau when you come to town), to Theodore Roosevelt’s hunting and ranching life (make sure you check out his Cabin located in the National Park), to the rebirth of today’s Medora. There is even a place in town where you can learn about rodeo greats and Native American heritage at the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame!
