Billings: Montana’s Trailhead
Town

Plenty To Do

For history buffs and outdoor enthusiasts, Billings offers plentiful downtime recreation. The Little Bighorn Battlefield, where Native American warriors defeated George Armstrong Custer and his troops in 1876, is only an hour’s drive away.

Travelers also frequently visit the Western Heritage Center museum, with its vast collection of historic artifacts and memorabilia, and the NOVA Center for the Performing Arts, which features drama, musical theater, improv comedy and opera. Great views can be found at Swords Park Trail and Zimmerman Park, among other locations. And the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area is great for outdoor activities such as fishing and hiking.

Major Events

Whether for trade shows or entertainment for conference attendees, the MetraPark located in Billings provides a wealth of opportunities. Along with business meetings and exhibitions, a wide range of events are held at the facility, among them rodeos, concerts, family shows, festivals, basketball, indoor football, wrestling and figure skating. The multifaceted center includes a 6,500-seat grandstand, the 10,000-seat Rimrock Auto Arena and the 77,400-square-foot Expo Center.

With landscaped parks and paved, lighted parking, the site offers an appealing location for a full range of activities. Standing out is the 28,800-square-foot Montana Pavilion, a half-mile track used for both horse racing and motor sports.
