For smaller “continental” events, the Brookgreen staff is able to accommodate culinary needs with a variety of small platters, beverages, and beer and wine options. However, for larger events, the Brookgreen looks to its exclusive catering partner, Austin’s Ocean One, one of the premier restaurants in the area. The team at Austin’s sits down with each event planner to create a unique menu to suit each specific event. Favorite menu items include fresh seafood from the coast and local specialties like shrimp and grits, or chicken and waffles. Austin’s provides a full bar package as well.

Photo Shoots

For more than 85 years, Brookgreen Gardens’ rustic charm has stood the test of hurricanes, floods and time, making it a historic and stunning place to preserve special moments with a private photo shoot. The lawn and area surrounding the Holliday Cottage are available for one-hour bridal photo shoots for $200 by appointment only. Brides and photographers have access to the gardens during normal business hours; however, just like the event spaces for weddings and events, the gardens are available only to guests who hold a current one-year membership at Brookgreen Gardens.

After Events

Before and after events, Brookgreen Gardens offers a wide range of activities to entertain guests of all ages. The event planners at the gardens can arrange private tours, programs and animal encounters for small meetings groups such as the favorite boat ride through the creek aboard the Springfield, a 48-foot pontoon boat. Guests are also able to stroll through the gardens explore the spaces and take in the art at their own pace. There are three restaurants on-site, and guests love shopping through Keepsakes the Brookgreen Shop to bring home their own taste of the gardens.
