Carolina Coastal Meetings

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Like Wilmington, Myrtle Beach is a Carolina destination that needs no introduction on the leisure side, and that’s what makes it a great location for meeting planners.

“We’re incredibly family friendly,” said Ursula Grant, convention sales manager for the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. “We did a big survey a few years ago, and when people have meetings here, typically 10 [percent] to 25 percent tend to bring their families.”

Connected to the Sheraton, the Myrtle Beach Convention Center downtown, with more than 250,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 100,800-square-foot exhibit hall and a 17,000-square-foot ballroom, is the “business option,” according to Grant. Planners can also easily set their meeting right on the beach at the Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort, the Myrtle Beach Marriott Resort and Spa, the Embassy Suites – Kingston Plantation or the Springmaid Beach Resort.

For something different, during the day or the evening, Myrtle Beach has you covered, particularly as it is home to the NASCAR Racing Experience, which not only offers your group the opportunity to race real NASCAR vehicles, but also includes meeting and reception space. The House of Blues in the north part of town includes both an indoor reception space and a sugar shack for a beach-themed evening, and Ripley’s Aquarium can handle an entire out-of-the-box day for your group, offering team-building meeting space with aquarium tank views and rentals for evening receptions.
