EUGENE, Oregon — Columbia Hospitality is expanding in Oregon with the addition of Eugene’s Valley River Inn to its portfolio — making it the hospitality management and consulting company’s largest hotel to date.
Valley River Inn also more than 15,000 square feet of meeting and event space. The inn’s largest space, the Willamette Ballroom, provides over 6,100 square feet plus a 1,900-square-foot pre-function area and built-in bar. The ground-floor Columbia Ballroom offers nearly 3,300 square feet for up to 300 guests and can also be split into three separate breakout spaces. It includes a 1,200-square-foot pre-function area with access to a riverside patio and courtyard.
The property sits on the banks of the Willamette River, with 259 guest rooms and suites, many of which have patios or balconies providing water views. The mid-century modern hotel was built in 1973 with a nod to the area’s logging history, featuring timber beams and ample woodwork for a lodge-like ambiance.
The rooms were fully renovated in 2024 with modern amenities, local art, wood furniture and new bedding. With the renovation and redesign, the property preserved special elements from the 1970s, including the chandelier in the lobby, original brickwork and wood beams.
Sweet Waters on the River, the inn’s on-site restaurant, offers a seasonal menu and features a fireplace, floor-to-ceiling windows with river views and an outdoor patio fronting the water.
The hotel is a short distance from downtown Eugene, the University of Oregon, Autzen Stadium and Hayward Field, as well as local wineries and breweries.
