ELKO, Nev. – To deal with a crowded event schedule, the Elko Convention and Visitors Authority announced approved plans to begin an expansion project in April. The $9 million new facility will attach to the current convention center building with a connected plaza.

Officials expect the 28,834-square-foot facility to be mostly completed by November. The venue’s new 9,600-square-foot central conference room will be capable of dividing into 10 smaller rooms.

Workers will also add 88 new parking spaces to accommodate attendees to the new facility.
