Delaware’s Air Museum

Catering

The Air Mobility Command Museum does not offer catering services on-site, so planners are free to use any off-site caterers for events and meetings. A few favorite caterers in the area are Where Pigs Fly, home of the best pulled pork in Delaware and an award-winning broccoli salad; An Affair to Remember Catering, which offers a variety of options for breakfasts, lunches, dinners and hors d’oeuvres; and Lookerman Catering, which offers a range of themed menus and works with planners to create custom menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner. While in the area, make sure to try local favorites like scrapple and crab dip made with fresh Delaware blue crab. Alcohol is allowed with the use of a licensed vender/bartender.

Extras

Groups holding events at the Air Mobility Command Museum can book guided tours of the museum for a more in-depth look at the aircraft and the exhibits, among them “Airlift During the Korean War,” “Airlift During the Vietnam War,” the Clark Airborne CA-1 Tractor, “Operation Vittles” and the Dover AFB Control Tower. The main floor of the display hangar, the museum store and the restrooms are all handicapped accessible, and the C-141B Starlifter aircraft outside of the hangar is wheelchair accessible with a ramp leading into the aircraft. The museum offers free parking, tax-free services and free event planning for anyone looking to book the hangar for their next event.

After Hours

Before and after events, guests are free to explore the hangar and static displays around the museum to get a closer look at the more than 30 aircraft on exhibit. Air Force veteran volunteer guides are on hand to offer informative tours, and many recite personal stories of their time in the Air Force. The museum hosts many events throughout the year, among them summer camps for aspiring aviators, open cockpit days and car shows. The museum’s air traffic control tower is open for guests to gain a better perspective of the museum, and the free flight simulator is a must for any visitors wanting to test their aviation abilities.
