Des Moines Convention Hotel Already Drawing Business

DES MOINES, Iowa – Before construction workers hammered the first nail, the new convention center hotel at the Iowa Events Center has already booked clients. The Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives will hold its annual convention event in Des Moines in 2018.

Officials said the new 330-room Hilton hotel helped land the large event. Estimates expect 1,000 chamber of commerce executives from around the world to meet for interactive workshops, lectures, discussions and more.

The $101 million convention hotel project will rise eight stories above downtown. Construction is slated to begin in February with a target opening date of March 2018.

The convention center hotel will feature a modern design, 10,000-square-foot ballroom, meeting rooms, executive lounge, restaurant and bar. The building will connect to the Des Moines skywalk system for easy access to the convention center and other nearby buildings.
