JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Meeting planners can board a shuttle after the Small Market Meetings Conference and depart for a post-conference familiarization (FAM) tour of Amelia Island and St. Augustine, Fla., Oct. 30 to Nov. 1.

The Oct. 28-30 conference will showcase Jacksonville, Fla., as a potential meeting destination with evening events, a city sightseeing tour and two nights at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront. After the final conference luncheon, meeting attendees who sign up for the post-conference FAM will travel to the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island, where they will learn about Amelia Island’s rich history and natural wonders on island tours the next day. The tours touch on the island’s meeting venues, 13 miles of beaches and historic sites.

Amelia Island includes a Victorian-era historic district with a 50-block area of homes and buildings that are on the National Register of Historic Places. For history buffs interested in the island’s past, there is the Amelia Island Museum of History, the last Spanish town in the Western Hemisphere and the former Spanish Fort San Carlos.

Late that afternoon, attendees will travel to St. Augustine to spend an evening at the Casa Monica Hotel. The next day, they’ll take trolley tours of St. Augustine and see centuries-old churches, forts and other impressive architecture. The town is the oldest continuously occupied European settlement in North America.

Groups depart for the airport at noon on Nov. 1. For more information on the FAM tour, contact Nicole Trueblood at ntrueblood@visitjacksonville.com or (904) 421-9182. To register for the SMM Conference or see the FAM schedule, visit www.smallmarketmeetingsconference.com.
