Elegant Events at the Historic Homestead Resort

Even Scarlett O’Hara could learn a few things about Southern charm from The Omni Homestead Resort. At this Hot Springs, Virginia, resort, it seems Southern hospitality knows no bounds, as elegant entryways cheerfully invite guests into the charming halls and meeting spaces while the featherbeds do their part to lull visitors to sleep with a pillowy hug each night.

Open since 1766, The Omni Homestead is one of the last remaining grand resorts of America. The 2,000-acre estate offers hospitality and charm from its home in the Allegheny Mountains of Virginia. With 483 opulent guest rooms and more than 72,000 square feet of flexible indoor meeting space, there is plenty of room to roam about the resort while feeling right at home with the hotel’s variety of amenities.

“Everything you need is right here under one roof,” said Jeff Ford, director of sales for The Omni Homestead Resort. “Whether its group team building on our expansive ropes course or the unique sport of falconry we have something for everyone, especially with the addition of our Allegheny Springs water park. The water slides and lazy river at the park have enhanced our summer offerings for families along with the natural springs waters that made us famous.”

The indulgent amenities and luxurious space has attracted discerning guests throughout the ages, including more than 22 United States presidents since the early 19th century. The hotel has since undergone a few modern upgrades and renovations that have bolstered the resort’s reputation to its modern clientele. The resort is perfect for meeting groups seeking that classic Southern charm without sacrificing modern amenities, like an expansive spa, two championship golf courses, and multiple fine- and casual-dining choices.

The Omni Homestead offers a wide range of opportunities for small groups and events such as an intimate reception in the Tower Suite, a private dinner in the Hunt Room, or an exclusive Gourmet Safari with one of the hotel’s skilled chefs. In addition, the resort has boardrooms, suites with terraces and parlors, private dining options, and a variety of activities that make this Southern belle shine as a meeting venue.

Meeting Space

Despite the hotel’s grand 72,000-square-feet of functional meeting space, the Omni Homestead Resort offers more than 26 different rooms and modular spaces that act as the ideal setting for any small function. Options are the name of the game at The Homestead, with a staff that specializes in everything from business meetings, picnics, and weddings for as few as 35 guests beneath opulent chandeliers to conferences, dinner banquets, and special events held throughout bygone era decorated halls for up to 1,000 people. In addition to the indoor spaces, the resort also holds events outdoors among its 5,000 acres where they have hosted cookouts on the lawn, evening concerts, and even pool parties.

A World of Its Own

The Homestead is literally a self-contained entity, employing its own painters, electricians, plumbers and irrigation system under one roof. The staff offers some tangible amenities for meeting guests to while away their hours at the resort. The hotel features two championship golf courses, an equestrian center with 28 stalls, a downhill ski area during the winter months, a shooting club arena, fly fishing, archery, falconry, off-road Segway tours, a miniature golf course, and, of course, a spa that serves as the perfect spot to get pampered before or after an event.

A Southern Spread

Food is an event in itself at the Omni Homestead Resort, where even the boxed breakfasts for meetings contain lavish options like smoked salmon or cheddar and ham biscuits with herbed butter. The catering team offers everything from buffet-style dining and reception stations to break-room treats and themed menus, even including formal dinner enhancements with wine pairings and interactive cocktail stations. Alcohol is only permitted when purchased through the resort, but their range of labels is extensive and covers all the price points, ranging from a standard lineup of classic brands to an ultra-premium variety of wine and spirit labels.

Watery Wonderland

The Omni Homestead Resort was made famous years ago for its natural hot springs as the two major springs from the Allegheny Mountains flow directly onto its property. The water is naturally heated and has remained chemical-free from treatments throughout the years, making it the perfect spot to relax with some water therapy. Not only has the resort recently updated its luxurious spa to include a thermal suite and an adults-only spa garden, but now meeting guests can take advantage of the new Allegheny Springs water park that features two-acres of water attractions, including a lazy river, water slides, a family pool and a water play zone.
