Expansion begins in October at Springfield Ramada Convention Center

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The 173-room Ramada Oasis Hotel and Convention Center will break ground in October for a 13,000-square-foot convention center expansion in October.

Three new meeting rooms for up to 250 people will be added, and a new air-wall system will allow the new space to open to the current convention center, giving the center space for 1,300 at banquets and 1,800 at meetings. The current center has 21,000 square feet of meeting space.

“There will also be a new convention center lobby with an enclosed walkway to the Ramada Oasis Hotel, and Fire and Ice Restaurant and Bar. The current convention center will also be renovated.

Tracy Kimberlin, president of the Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau, said he’s pleased the city is getting additional meeting space.

“This is great news in light of the fact that Springfield has limited meeting space for larger groups,” Kimberlin said. “Springfield is facing stiff competition from other cities that are building or have recently built convention centers. This will allow us to host more than one large group simultaneously.”
