Expansion and Renovation in Store for the Columbus Convention Center
COLUMBUS, Ohio – By July 2017, the Greater Columbus Convention Center will look like a new facility. Beginning in September 2015, the venue will receive a $125 million expansion and renovation.
Currently, construction on the eight-level, car garage is underway. The project will increate the number of parking spaces by 610 to a total of about 4,000.
The upcoming renovations will add 36,000 square feet of exhibit space and more than 10,000 square feet of two-level meeting space. Upgrades will touch almost every area, such as the exteriors, meeting rooms, ballrooms and public spaces. Wall coverings, technology, carpeting and lighting, public art and re-imagined food areas encompass some of the planned upgrades.
After completion, the venue will receive a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
