A visit to French Lick Resort in French Lick, Ind., might bring to mind the Doublemint gum commercial: “Double your pleasure, double your fun.”

But the resort came up with its own slogan: “One Amazing Resort, Two Grand Hotels.”

About two and a half hours south of Indianapolis, French Lick Resort includes the French Lick Springs Hotel, billed as an American classic, and the West Baden Springs Hotel, touted for its European luxury. Shuttles run regularly between the two, which are within sight of one another.

Both hotels have long and storied histories dating to the mid-1800s and are tied to the area’s mineral springs, but the resort uniting the two hotels was not created until the most recent acquisition in 2005. When restorations of both hotels were completed in 2007, the resort was born.

The French Lick Springs Hotel is the convention hotel, with a 109,000-square-foot event center with nine meeting venues. It lends itself to board meetings, annual conferences, awards banquets and other events. The hotel is attached to a casino.

Nearby West Baden Springs Hotel is known for its 200-foot-diameter, domed atrium lobby, perfect for banquets and receptions. The largest meeting room in its lower level event space is 3,000 square feet, but its new school building offers another 4,000 square feet of meeting space.

In addition to its meeting space, the resort has four golf courses, including a Pete Dye design; two spas; a bowling alley and arcade; indoor tennis courts; indoor and outdoor pools; indoor basketball courts; historic tours; carriage rides; bike rentals; and stables.
