BETHESDA, Maryland — The Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center in Chula Vista opened in mid-May, making it Gaylord Hotels’ sixth resort and the group’s first-ever property in California.
The resort’s ample event space includes a carpeted, flexible exhibit hall, four ballrooms, 67 breakout rooms, a range of outdoor spaces and an executive boardroom — and many of the venues offer views of San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The resort’s largest ballroom and exhibit hall is also the largest in San Diego County, measuring at 140,049 square feet.
Located seven miles from downtown San Diego, the waterfront resort overlooks the Pacific Ocean and the Chula Vista Marina. With 36 acres, the expansive property features 1,600 guest rooms, including 89 suites; more than 477,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including lush outdoor areas; a 4.25-acre waterpark; and a range of signature culinary offerings.
Guest room options range from interior atrium views of the lush landscaping to spacious suites overlooking the bay and the Pacific Ocean.
Gaylord Pacific offers more than 10 dining options, including a coffee shop, a cocktail lounge and a classic steakhouse. Old Hickory Steakhouse dishes up “refined surf and turf,” while Treo Kitchen + Bar is an all-day restaurant serving locally sourced seafood and regional ingredients. Taiyo offers an array of sushi in a laid-back setting, and Marzul Coastal Cuisine is a Baja-inspired fine dining restaurant that also dishes up bay views. Oeste is an atrium bar with a premium selection of tequilas, craft cocktails and local craft beers, while Growlers Sports Bar & Taproom boasts a 75-foot screen, and Cask & Crown is a 1920s-theme speakeasy tucked away inside Growlers.
The resort’s 4.25-acre outdoor water park features multiple pools overlooking the bay, as well as a water playground with water slides and a lazy river, wave pool, surf simulator, lounge chairs, private cabanas and two pool bars. Guests will also find a 7,500-square-foot fitness center on site, and a full-service spa and salon.
