Grapevine’s Gaylord Texan Resort to Undergo $120 Million Expansion

GRAPEVINE, Texas — The Gaylord Texan Resort announced a $120 million expansion that will include 300 additional rooms and 86,000 square feet of meeting space, bringing the property’s totals to 1,811 rooms and more than 490,000 square feet of meeting space.

The expansion, expected to be complete in 2018, will include a new 30,000 square-foot ballroom, 30,000 square feet of breakout space and approximately 26,000 square feet of carpeted prefunction space. In addition, a $5 million expansion of the resort pool complex, Paradise Springs, is expected to be complete in time for summer 2016.

Upon completion, the expansion will also make Grapevine’s Gaylord Texan Resort the second-largest nongaming convention center hotel in the United States, as determined by total self-contained exhibit and meeting space. It will be the largest resort convention hotel in Texas.

The city of Grapevine provided a $10 million incentive to the project.

Grapevine, centrally located between Dallas and Fort Worth, is home to 20 hotel properties, 900,000 square feet of meeting space and more than 5,400 hotel rooms, with 15,000 rooms available within 15 minutes of the city.
