GROESBECK, Texas – After extensive remodeling of a formerly empty building, the Groesbeck Convention Center celebrated its Grand Opening on March 28. Jim Longbotham, former city administrator, came up with the idea of where to house the convention center after driving past an empty building in downtown Groesbeck in 2012.
Construction to convert the old building into the Groesbeck Convention Center began last spring. Mayor Jackie Levingston cut the ribbon to signal the official opening of the center.
The center’s Grand Hall features 80-inch flat screen monitors and room for up to 320 people in banquet style seating. The smaller Club Room accommodates up to 100 in classroom style, as well as a 70-inch flat screen, full caterer’s kitchen, warming kitchen and other audio/visual amenities.
