TUCSON, Arizona — Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch Resort, a historic Tucson landmark, has completed a multimillion-dollar expansion. The resort has added 32 guest rooms and enhanced its meeting spaces.
The rooms are on the north side of the property’s 34 acres, bringing the guest room count to 59. The new rooms are identified as the Catalina rooms because of their views of the Santa Catalina Mountains.
The new Catalina rooms and suites were designed to reflect the iconic Santa Fe-style construction of the existing historic structures. The six new individual buildings that house the rooms feature hand-painted Mexican-tile murals, one-of-a-kind metal sculptures and more than 4,000 tons of recycled Coronado brown stone.
The new Catalina rooms and suites feature a hand-painted border around the ceilings, Talavera tile and custom-made wood furniture handcrafted in Mexico. Every room has a patio with a view of the mountains or cityscape; most have both views, and six have private, outdoor showers.
The recently completed expansion created new event space and enhanced existing venues. On the southern edge of the property, the Casa Luna Ballroom comfortably seats up to 260 guests and has a patio with city views. Inside, the Casa Luna Ballroom offers divisible space, double 11-foot screens, state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment, accent lighting with various controls, theater lights, a dedicated kitchen, new furniture and a dance floor.
At Hacienda del Sol’s northern edge, the new negative-edge Catalina Pool area provides access to the most coveted views of Tucson’s Santa Catalina Mountains for up to 100 guests. With a dedicated bar and proximity to the main kitchen and guest rooms, this space is suitable for intimate gatherings, weddings and photo opportunities.
