Hilton Sandestin gets decked out

DESTIN, Fla. — The largest full-service resort on the beachfront in northwest Florida’s Gulf Coast is making a much bigger deal out of its location with a $6.5 million renovation that has expanded its outdoor areas.

The 598-room Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort and Spa now has 17,000 square feet of expanded deck areas, with unobstructed views of its 60,000 square feet of beach.

New spaces at the AAA Four Diamond properpty include its Sunrise, Barefoot’s and Sunset decks. A beachside bar and grill and a poolside market and coffee shop have also been added.

The new decks were built in compliance with a local lighting ordinance designed to minimize disturbance of nesting sea turtles, their hatchlings and other wildlife. The decks are also made of a composite material that is considered green.
