Holland in America

Food, Drink and More

The city’s downtown restaurants and bars, along with more than 100 one-of-a-kind shops, give visitors many choices. They include the New Holland Brew Pub, which hosts food-and-beer pairings for groups. Tours of the pub’s brewing facility are available.

AlpenRose Restaurant features carved Bavarian wood ceilings and appealing decor. Five private rooms that seat from eight to 200 guests are available for banquets and meetings. Cocktail receptions are also offered as an alternative to plated dinners.

The area also offers a number of breweries and wineries.

Hotel Choices

Among the city’s hotel options are two primary conference hotels. The Doubletree by Hilton features 168 sleeping rooms and 9,700 square feet of meeting space. The grand ballroom accommodates up to 500 people in banquet seating or 600 theater style. It is complemented by smaller rooms that range in size from 648 square feet to 1,824 square feet and a conference room that seats 10.

The Haworth Inn and Conference Center has 10,000 square feet of meeting space, with a ballroom and several breakout rooms. Its location on the campus of Hope College brings additional opportunities for meeting space. Guests have access to 50 sleeping rooms.

Window on the Past

The Holland Museum takes visitors back to the city’s founding, later recovery from a huge fire and growth to the present. Included in the collections are samples of Dutch culture from around the world. Native American displays are also featured, along with an extensive array of paintings, furniture, ceramics and textiles.

Also offering a glimpse of the past is Cappon House, the home of an immigrant who became a wealthy community leader. Furnishings and family belongings demonstrate the lifestyle of the time. And located nearby is the Settler’s House, an 1867 example of life for the city’s early working class.
