Hotel and Convention Center Coming to Mystic Lake Casino Hotel

PRIOR LAKE, Minn. – The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) tribe recently announced plans to add a new hotel and convention center to the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel, which the tribe owns and operates. Officials estimate construction starting by April 2016 with a public opening date by the end of 2017.

The 70,000-square-foot convention center will include two ballrooms and a number of smaller meeting rooms. The nine-floor hotel tower will offer 180 rooms attached to the current hotel and overlooking the Meadows at Mystic Lake, the resort’s championship golf course.

When completed, the hotel convention space will be the fourth largest in the metro area.

“We are always working to identify new opportunities that will enhance Mystic Lake Casino Hotel as a full-service resort,” said president and CEO of the SMSC Gaming Enterprise, Edward Stevenson. “Adding this first-class hotel tower and convention space will meet the growing demand and help set the tone for our 25th anniversary in 2017.”

The tribe also announced upcoming upgrades to the existing hotel rooms. The renovations should finish before the end of 2015.
