Kansas is a keeper

With its endless waving wheat and historic western trails, Kansas embodies the heartland and heritage of America. Its location in the center of the country gives Kansas a natural advantage when it comes to drawing meetings and conventions, but the Sunflower State doesn’t rely simply on its surroundings. Cities throughout Kansas are investing in world-class facilities for everything from sporting events to multiday conventions.

Sports are a stronghold in the capital of Topeka, which has built or plans to renovate a number of premier sports venues for drag racing, swimming and soccer.

And, between the sports and meeting facilities at Kansas State University and two downtown redevelopment projects, the nearby town of Manhattan is living up to its name. The Little Apple may sleep, but it never rests on its laurels.

The state’s largest city is full of surprises. Wichita has booming agricultural and aircraft industries, a well-preserved Western heritage and abundant meeting facilities. Sports are also in play: Wichita will soon open a new 15,000-seat arena.

Kansas’ pioneering spirit is embodied in McPherson, a thriving small town that lures meeting planners with restored downtown attractions, innovative team-building, and new and remodeled meeting venues.
