DANBURY, Connecticut — Merriweather Lakehouse Hotel, Autograph Collection, in Columbia, Maryland, is under new management. Meyer Jabara Hotels recently assumed management of the full-service boutique property located on Lake Kittamaqundi. The hotel has 212 guest rooms and suites, 14,000 square feet of event space, a restaurant and lounge and a rooftop swimming pool. Merriweather Lakehouse Hotel is owned and operated by IMH Columbia and is within walking distance of the Merriweather Post Pavilion outdoor concert venue, Lodging Magazine reported.
The Merriweather is the perfect complement to Meyer Jabara Hotels’ portfolio, said Justin Jabara, president of Meyer Jabara Hotels. David Costello, owner of the Merriweather Lakehouse Hotel, said there will now be collaboration and a unified team with Meyer Jabara Hotels at the helm, allowing the property to increase its level of service and standards.
Meyer Jabara Hotels has named Jeff Sweet as general manager, the magazine reported. Sweet previously held leadership roles with Pyramid Global Hospitality and Starwood Hotels and Resorts and was also owner/operator of Sweet Family Farms/Stone Barn Kitchen and Catering.
“This is a beautiful boutique hotel in an amazing community — so much so that having the opportunity to run it brought me out of retirement,” Sweet said.
The property has undergone recent upgrades, including the addition of a 78-room tower, 2,000 square feet of new meeting space and a 1,200-square-foot penthouse suite. The recently updated lobby features a fireplace, wood accents and nature scenes.
