New Conference Center in Tyler, Texas, to Open This Spring

TYLER, Texas —The new W.T. Brookshire Conference Center that’s under construction in Tyler, Texas, is on track to open this spring. The city of Tyler will operate the conference center, and last month opened up to reservations.

As the centerpiece of the Tyler Rose Complex, the new conference facility is only steps away from the historic Tyler Rose Garden, Tyler Rose Museum and Tyler Civic Theatre.
The 50,230-square-foot center is designed to bring the outdoors in, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering scenic views. The building has more than 23,000 square feet of meeting space in an open layout that features multiple breakout rooms and flexible spaces. The Main Room features a built-in stage and can seat 1,330 for banquets or be broken into four smaller spaces. Groups will also be able to use three flexible breakout rooms that can be combined into one larger space and a multipurpose room. The center also offers a lobby, an equipped finishing kitchen and outdoor event spaces, including the “front porch,” area event lawn and tree grove.

The conference center replaces the now-demolished Harvey Hall Convention Center and anchors the Tyler Rose Complex master plan, designed by Tyler-based Fitzpatrick Architects. In addition to the new convention facility, the complex includes the Rose Garden Center, East Texas State Fairgrounds, the old Mayfair Building, athletic fields and surrounding areas.

The master plan also calls for restoring the historic 1927 Mayfair Building, a performing arts venue on the East Texas State Fairgrounds that has hosted Elvis and Johnny Cash.
