New Developments for the New Year

Custom isn’t just for couture.

Time was when custom applied mostly to fashion. Now, we all want everything, from ice cream flavors to party favors, created just for us or to at least have the illusion that what we are experiencing has been handcrafted with our wants and needs front and center. That means meeting planners should spend less time deciding on the color of tablecloths and more time thinking about big-picture design and development of memorable meeting events.

Strategy: See what others are doing by visiting event blogs such as  blog.cvent.com/blog, where recent topics included “Gift Grab Bag Ideas” and “What’s Cool: 40 Great Winter Menu Ideas.” Other good sources are the Event Planners Association Blog — eventplannersassociation.com/blog — and www.bizbash.com.
