NAPLES, Fla. — Downtown’s Inn on Fifth has begun construction of a $15 million expansion that will be the largest redevelopment effort on Fifth Avenue South since the 2008 financial crisis.

A three-story building to be constructed across the street from the inn will add suites, a meeting room and more retail space for the Fifth Avenue South district.

The 32 club-level suites added will be the first new hotel rooms in Naples since 2008. The expansion will also include an executive board room, and 12,000 square feet of retail space. With the addition, the inn will have 119 guest rooms and suites and 9,000 square feet of meeting space.

“We’re on the other side of a serious recession, the economy is growing and our hotel is experiencing record occupancy – this is the right time for this expansion,” said Phil McCabe, owner of The Inn on Fifth. McCabe added that he and others hope the expansion will be a catalyst on Fifth Avenue, as the Inn on Fifth was when it was built in 1998.

Guests of the club suites will have several added luxuries, including a rooftop hot tub and sunbathing area, buffet breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails and appetizers.
