NEWTON, Kan. — The search for a middle-ground meeting spot may lead meeting planners to Newton. The small town is located at the crossroads of Interstate 135, which connects Canada and Mexico, and U.S. Highway 50, which connects the East and West coasts.

Right along I-135, Newton has opened the Meridian Event Center, a 15,000-square-foot facility with an 8,000-square-foot ballroom that can be divided into as many as five meeting spaces. A 600-square-foot boardroom accommodates up to 20 people.

Contemporary in style, the center has many windows that provide light and views. A large lobby is popular for receptions. The facility has been outfitted with the latest audiovisual equipment and a full-service kitchen.
