Lima
Earlier this summer, the Ohio Kiwanis Club brought more than 400 members and their spouses to Lima, the first time since 1921 that the group had met there.

The convention was held at the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center in Lima’s town square. Attendees stayed in the attached 100-room Wingate by Wyndham and other nearby hotels.

In addition to its 14,500-square-foot exhibit hall and 10 meeting rooms, the convention center is one block from the Allen County Memorial Hall, a 1908 horseshoe-shaped auditorium that can be booked for events. The center is also home to the 1,784-seat Crouse Performance Hall. Next to the convention center is the new City Club, an event space on the third floor of an 1800s storefront building.

“We’re a small community but with lots of arts, entertainment, recreation and retail that give people things to do,” said Christine Pleva, executive director of the Lima-Allen County CVB. “We have a wonderful symphony orchestra and museums or plays or musicals at the Encore Theater. It is our variety that’s appealing to groups.”
