Oregon CVB simplifies social media with guide for meeting planners

EUGENE, Ore. — An Oregon convention and visitors bureau has developed a social media guide for meeting planners.

Produced by Eugene, Cascades and Coast in partnership with Sparkloft Media, the guide covers basic and best practices for using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram and Foursquare in conjunction with meetings and special events.

Janis Ross, vice president of convention and sports marketing for the Eugene, Cascades and Coast region, said the growing use of social media makes the platforms an important component for attendance building, hybrid meetings and back-channel discussions.

“When used correctly social media can propel engagement and provide meeting planners with measurable data,” said Ross. “We’ve created a simple guide to help social media beginners enhance their meetings and events.”

“Social Media for Meetings and Events, Tips, Tools and Resources” can be downloaded from the EugeneCascadesCoast.org website.
