When the Overton Hotel and Conference Center was completed in 2009, it immediately earned its place among the four tallest buildings in Lubbock, Texas. At just 165-feet tall, this 15-story high-rise conference center hotel continues to tower above the college town skyline, looking out over downtown Lubbock and the Texas Tech University campus grounds. The hotel stands out in “Hub City” with its exceptional hospitality and Texas-chic aesthetics.
Luxury linens and rustic decor set the backdrop for refreshingly cozy stays within the Overton Hotel’s 303 rooms and suites, where rich brown leather furnishings and marbled accents elevate the accommodations and entice guests to relax in style. The hotel is home to one of Lubbock’s’ top restaurants, the Pecan Grill, as well as a full-service business center and fitness center, and it is the official hotel of both the Texas Tech Alumni Association and Texas Tech Athletics. Guests staying there have easy access not only to all of the stadiums and playing fields at the university, but also to fan gear at the on-site gift shop. The gift shop also sells snacks and coffee for a quick pick-me-up before a game or a meeting at the hotel.

This conference center hotel boasts 20,000 square feet of space to accommodate groups of from 12 to 1,200. The column-free ballroom with its 11,250 square feet of flexible meeting space is popular with meeting guests, as it can convert into three separate rooms by the use of sound-deadening walls. A handful of smaller venues and meeting rooms make it easy to host breakout sessions and boardroom presentations.
Overnight guests enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, as well as complimentary shuttle service to and from Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport. Preferred Level guests are treated to complimentary plated breakfasts in the Pecan Grill, as well as a complimentary beverage voucher for the Pecan Grill Lounge. Meeting Spaces
The Overton Hotel and Conference Center features more than 20,000 square feet of flexible gathering space for meetings and events. The Sunset Ballroom, for up to 1,125 guests, is the largest space at the hotel, with dividers available to split the room into three smaller spaces for up to 400 guests each. The Horizon Ballroom, for up to 410 guests, also divides into three sections — maximums vary from 110 to 170 guests, depending upon the space — and there are four smaller meeting rooms and two executive boardrooms also available for smaller gatherings that are able to host anywhere from 12 to 90 guests, depending on the selected room.
Catering
The Overton Hotel provides full-service catering options for groups meeting within the hotel or on-site convention center. An award-winning culinary team designs menus that will delight all palates and diners at each event held at the hotel, from plated dinners to buffet options. The team can customize menus to accommodate any special dietary requests. Most guests rave about the breakfast taco bar for early meetings, but the west Texas ranch buffet showcases the best of the region’s most beloved cuisines, with items like smothered green beans; chipotle cream sauce smothered chicken; and roasted red-pepper mashed potatoes. Alcohol is available on-site.
