PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. – Meeting planners who want to take advantage of the leisure activities and Smoky Mountain backdrop of Pigeon Forge can book an event at the LeConte Center. The $50 million event center will open in September.

One of the largest convention centers in the area, the 232,000-square-foot multi-purpose facility will be able to hold up to 12,000 people.

“The thing that is unique about this building, is we have 105,000 square feet of free span space where there are no columns,” said Leon Downey, Pigeon Forge Tourism Director. “The lowest ceiling height is 30 feet high. What we are going after are privately owned events, primarily hosted trade shows, large assembly groups, competitive events, special events and festivals.”

Four major events have already booked the center, including the National Quartet Convention for the last week in September in 2014 and 2015. That convention is expected to bring 40,000 people to Pigeon Forge.

The LeConte Center will also have one 750-square-foot conference room and seven multi-purpose rooms. Additional services include trolley service, prefunction space and food and beverage facilities.
