Historic Resorts
“Because of Kalahari, everyone is in renovation,” Jackson said, and that includes the area’s historic resorts. Skytop Lodge opened in 1928 and is one of the Poconos’ original grand manor homes. The hotel recently completed a renovation of all its meeting and lodging space, including the striking stone lodge’s 193 guest rooms and 20,000 square feet of meeting space. Everything at the 1902 Inn at Pocono Manor has been renovated over the past three years, including its 263 sleeping rooms and 22,000 square feet of function space. The National Historic Landmark is now updating common spaces, including reconfiguring the lobby to overlook Little Pocono Mountain.
Adrenaline Adventures
Camelback Mountain Adventures, next to Camelback Mountain Resort, is a one-stop shop for several adrenaline-pumping group activities and is a place “everybody enjoys,” Jackson said. The park’s aerial obstacle course is strung high in the treetops at various height levels to provide a range of challenges, and the company’s newest addition, FreeFall, allows people to jump — untethered — from a 30-foot platform onto a stunt airbag below. Groups can also go out on a fleet of mountain Segways, ride zip lines and zip flyers, zoom down the mountainside on a steel-rail mountain coaster or try the climbing wall.
