Quilt museum sews up special events

Three years ago, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln finally unfolded hundreds of quilts in its collection, the largest publicly held quilt collection in the world, and displayed them in a new 35,000-square-foot museum and study center.

Since then, the International Quilt Study Center and Museum has been a popular event venue, where a colorful patchwork of fabric art accompanies dinners and receptions.

Among the groups that have met there and used the museum’s seminar room, reception hall and galleries are the Textile Society of America and the Quilting and Sewing Expo.

The collection of more than 3,500 quilts dates from the early 1700s to the present and represents more than 25 countries.
