The group uses a modified all-inclusive plan that includes a buffet breakfast and lunch.
“It is a nice buffet, and it makes it easy on meeting planners because we don’t have to worry about food selection. Plus, it provides flexibility. I didn’t hear any complaints. When my agents like a property, we know we can go back.
“The meeting space has improved tremendously,” said Popp. “The space is more inviting; the carpeting is brighter. And I don’t know how they did it, but the guest rooms are bigger now with a separate living area.”
An annual event that brings in crowds and caused the resort to make some adjustments to its conference center is the Concours d’Elegance, a vintage car show. La Torretta is the site of the only Concours in Texas.
“It’s a big deal,” said Dunnaway. “It is shown live on television from the Versailles Ballroom. We had to build doors 12 feet wide so they can drive each car in. That was part of getting their business, and it was worth it. Now any group can use the door to load and unload.”
It is also one of those inclusive sites that makes a meeting easy for a meeting planner and for attendees, said Popp.
“La Torretta is one of those places that once you valet park your car, you know it is going to stay parked because the resort has everything there.”
Hamati agrees. “What makes La Torretta unique is it has a great setting, which makes it productive for meetings. It’s a little remote, so there is less distraction.”
