Riverside Convention Center reopening scheduled for spring

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – After a 22-month renovation, the Riverside Convention Center will re-open with more than 30 percent additional indoor event space. The center is on course to re-open in early spring, with the first convention event on March 19, 2014.

The expansions will give the center over 65,000 square feet of indoor event space. The center features breakout rooms for smaller gatherings and the 28,000-square-foot Ben H. Lewis Hall for large exhibitions.

“Our city and our clients are very excited about the new and improved Riverside Convention Center,” said Debbie Megna, executive director of the Riverside Convention and Visitors Bureau. “In addition to enlarging and modernizing the center, a number of artistic and technological improvements will enhance the experience for event attendees.”

Outdoor overhauls include wooden trellises, arcades and an open-air plaza. Inside, renovation projects focused on technology updates, such as theater-quality audio/visual, high-efficiency LED lighting and sustainable designs.
