Safe and Meaningful Meetings in Dubuque (Sponsored)

The landscape of meetings has certainly pivoted over the last 8 months from in-person conversations to virtual ones. While meetings may look different, they are still happening and this particular community has embraced the challenge of making safe and meaningful connections.

Settled on the banks of the mighty Mississippi River where Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois meet, sits Dubuque, Iowa. A community that has a tier one city feel, but in a quaint city setting. With plenty of space to safely accommodate meetings of different sizes, this community has created unique opportunities for meetings in today’s COVID-19 world.

When the Iowa Knights of Columbus sought out a location to meet in August of 2020, they chose the Hotel Julien Dubuque. “As an event planner during COVID-19, there are many additional factors and considerations to contend with in executing an event,” said Paul Lee, State Deputy & meeting planner, “Working with Travel Dubuque and the Hotel Julien Dubuque put our minds at ease. Their staff was up to date with the current guidelines, and ensured our event maintained its character and feel, while ensuring our safety to the extent possible. The team was responsive to our needs, the conference attendees felt relaxed and throughout enjoyed the conference.”

In addition to offering safe places to meet, Dubuque has the advantage of being located along the Mississippi River. The waterway is what defines the community, and the spaces along it add many unique opportunities to meet. Gather on the patio at the Grand River Center for a breakout session. Host an event at the outdoor Alliant Energy Amphitheater with amazing views of Iowa’s oldest brewery. These are just two of spaces close to the river, nightlife, and outdoor activities.

High on the bluffs of the Iowa’s oldest community sits Eagle Point Park, a 110-acre space that allows for plenty of social distancing, fresh air, and spectacular views of Wisconsin and Illinois. Start the morning with breakfast as the sun rises over the mighty Mississippi River. A scene many attendees of the Mississippi River Cities & Towns Mayoral Conference won’t soon forget.
