Studebakers and
School Spirit in South Bend

Home of the Studebaker

If you’re an antique-car lover, the Studebaker National Museum is for you. South Bend is where the wagon-, carriage- and automobile-maker was founded. The main floor of the museum has a beautiful atrium and presents company and family history and vehicles dating from the 1800s to 1934. Included here is the carriage that brought President and Mrs. Abraham Lincoln to Ford’s Theater on that fateful night in 1865 when the president was assassinated. The museum’s second floor displays Studebaker vehicles from 1934 on. The last Studebaker rolled off the assembly line in 1966. The museum’s lower level has military vehicles and other equipment.
