SMM Conference: Making a comeback

More than half of the registrants for the 2011 Small Market Meetings Conference in Little Rock, Ark., attended last year’s conference, an indicator of valuable contacts and content they gleaned from the inaugural conference in Shreveport, La. Here’s a comment from one of meeting planners who attended last year’s conference, Sue Mandell of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., national director of WeTip Inc.

“I want to start by saying how comfortable I was with everyone in Shreveport. Oftentimes, I feel like I’ve melted into the background when I attend the larger functions. Having an opportunity to meet and talk with everyone was definitely key to the Small Market Meetings Conference’s success in Shreveport.

“Besides discussing the different venues available, we had a chance to discuss what our companies actually do.

“I have had several conversations, along with a training conference call, from Noreen Ray from ConventionPlanit.com. This is something I’m looking into further, but I would never have heard of them or met Noreen if I hadn’t been invited to the Small Market Meetings Conference in Shreveport.”
