BRANSON, Mo. — Southwest Airlines will offer daily flights from Chicago to Branson beginning March 9, bringing the live entertainment capital within reach of new meeting clients.

Branson is celebrating its centennial this year. It has evolved from a quiet mountain village to one of the most popular destinations in the United States, with 50 theaters and 100 live shows, including comedy, variety, magicians, and country, gospel, bluegrass, and rock music.

Five years ago, it upped its offerings to conventions when it opened the Branson Convention Center and two Hilton hotels on Lake Taneycomo in historic downtown Branson. The opening of the Branson Airport in 2009 also boosted meeting and leisure business.
